This plum cake has a soft, lightly sweet crumb with ripe plums arranged on top. The source lists both kefir and sour cream as optional variants, which can make the batter proportions unclear; this version chooses kefir and keeps the batter simple. Use firm-ripe plums, cut side up, and avoid pressing them too deeply into the batter. Bake until the centre springs back and a tester comes out with a few crumbs. Serve warm or at room temperature. Heat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 23 cm round cake pan. Whisk eggs and sugar until combined. Whisk in cooled butter, kefir and vanilla. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt and half the cinnamon. Fold into wet mixture just until combined.
