This baked syrnyk is a sliceable cottage cheese dessert with no pastry crust. Blending or sieving the cheese gives the filling a fine texture, while eggs and starch help it set. Add well-dried raisins if you want fruit in each slice. Bake slowly until the outer ring is firm and the middle has a slight movement, then cool before unmolding. Heat oven to 160°C (320°F); line a 20 cm springform pan and blend or sieve drained cottage cheese until fine. Stir in sugar, vanilla, sour cream, cornstarch and salt, then mix in eggs gently one at a time. Soak optional raisins briefly in warm water, drain and pat very dry before folding into cheese mixture.
