Ingredients for Vegetarian Empanadas:

Before you start cooking, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients:

For the Tista Empanadas:
Wheat flour2 glasses
Vegetable oil1/2 cup
Salt1/2 tsp
Water (cold)1/2 cup
For the filling:
Black beans (boiled)1 glass
Corn (canned)1 glass
Tomato paste2 Art. spoons
Onion (chopped)1 PC.
Garlic (pressed)2 branches
Cumin (ground)1 tsp
Salt and pepperTo taste
For frying:
Vegetable oilFor frying

How to Make Vegetarian Empanadas:

  1. We prepare the dough:
    • In a large bowl, mix the flour, vegetable oil and salt. Add water and knead the dough. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. We are preparing the filling:
    • Fry onion and garlic in oil in a pan. Add black beans, corn, tomato paste, cumin, salt and pepper. Cook until the mixture becomes homogeneous.
  3. We form empanadas:
    • Roll out the dough and cut out circles. Put a spoonful of filling on each circle. Roll the dough into a crescent and seal the edges.
  4. Let’s fry empanadas:
    • Heat the oil in a pan. Fry the empanadas on both sides until golden.
  5. Submission:
    • Serve the prepared empanadas hot. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
